Covid-19 accelerated digital transformation by 7 years and a report from World Economic Forum states that 84% of the digitalized workplace with 44% remote workforce. The apprenticeships mostly follow an approach of training younger generations in a specific trade through on-the-job training. It may seem that apprenticeships are for days gone by, but that is not the case. Most Industries today still use apprenticeships to advance knowledge for young professionals, and the same is true for the tech industry.

It is easy to mistakenly think that an apprenticeship is the same as an internship. Internships are mainly for students who are looking to gain experience or see how they would enjoy a particular career. They are often unpaid and tasked with minimal duties in the company. The goal of an internship is to gain experience in a specific industry and see if it is something one could be doing full time by themselves. Internships have a set period of time that a student or recent graduate will work, usually lasting a semester.

On the other hand, an apprenticeship is targeted toward recent graduates who are looking for real-life experience in the industry. They are often paid for their work and are given important duties and tasks that impact the team. Apprentices usually have more responsibilities than a traditional interns. They also have the opportunity to make real contributions to the tech team. The goal of someone working in an apprenticeship is that afterward, they will be rewarded with a full-time position at the company. Furthermore, the length of apprenticeships can vary between companies, lasting from months to sometimes years. Thus, Apprenticeship will help the graduates to become industry ready and employable by having a curriculum where they can go for apprenticeship for at least two years to get the industry exposure.

Software engineers are required to develop, design, maintain, modify and debug software. These qualities are a combination of both the soft and technical skills needed for efficiency in the workplace. This course is a work-study degree program designed to grow multidisciplinary software development talents with a mix of 21st-century cutting edge technological expertise like Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Natural Language Processing with small to medium scale enterprise applications development.

The work2learn journey of the learners begins with an intensive 12-month coding Bootcamp where they will clock up on industry practitioners in over 2000 hours of guided training and personalized mentoring.

The apprenticeship in Software engineering in the IT and ITES industry is important because specific software is needed in almost every industry, in every business, and for every function. With global-ready skills and 2 years of full-time working experience under their belt, the learners will double their salary upon graduation compared to graduates from the conventional degree programs.

Large tech companies such as Google, Airbnb, IBM, Accenture, BGG, Cognizant, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Alibaba Cloud, ANZ, Deloitte, LinkedIn, etc had tied up to offer apprenticeships. These large companies, along with others in the tech industry, offer a software development apprenticeship to teach the expertise of coding and, in the long run, fill vacant positions on their team.

Say hello to the latest section of our newsletter

In today’s issue, we have Pragya Agarwal, a 1st-year B.Mus student. This creative girl has let out her feelings and emotions about this new “home” around the mountains, and the new people she has met, in the form of poetry.

And, I’m Home

Where fog meets the clouds
And rains all the time
Water falls and falls and falls
Trees, snakes, crabs and fireflies
Oh…fireflies….saw you first time
And, I’m home…
People start talking People stop talking And everyone has a problem with you You feel low, you get ignored It’s their loss, should not matter to you You’re home… Here is where the peace is The lap of nature should heal me Let’s get wet in the rain Or the pool or the lake Let’s sleep in the wild away from the pain Yes, I can feel the music And, I’m home…

Music Basics For All

“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” - Henry Ford

At VijayBhoomi University, one might expect to find the spirit of learning rampant among all the students. Each student takes up courses that are beyond their specific field of study in order to attain a better education. While students themselves are enthusiastic, they often find themselves unable to dedicate themselves to a particular course due to an unfamiliarity with the subject which develops an apprehension toward learning new things. In order to fix that, the True School of Music at VijayBhoomi University has come up with a solution.

Last week, TSM announced the commencement of some of its Music 101 courses and masterclasses. These courses offer an insight into various topics related to music like music production, Raag, and pitch. These classes are aimed at absolute beginners who might not know about the basics of these topics. These lectures are aimed to develop a sense of familiarity with the course matter in order to help them understand these topics.

“I was a little hesitant to take up courses relating to pitch as while I was interested, I did not know anything about it. I didn’t want my interests to interfere with my transcript. With the Music 101s, I can at least try them out before opting for a course”

Competitive spirit

It is the monsoon season at VijayBhoomi University. During this season, most people let lethargy take them over. They rest in an armchair, sipping on tea and eating onion fritters. Well, that should be the case for most people but here at Vijaybhoomi University, the students are full of energy and ready to take on the world.

In order to dispel that energy in a creative and productive way, the student council of VU organized a small sports tournament among the four houses of VijayBhoomi University, Mambas, Wolves, Hawks, and Sharks. The houses competed against each other in tug of war and dodgeball. As soon as the competition was announced, the houses quickly scrambled to assemble their best teams for the tournament.

The tournament was very hyped up amongst the students and it drew many spectators as well. During the matches, the students cheered for their teams with gusto. The tournament ended on the 27th of July.
