Woman who stood for all

Ricky Carippa, MBA, JAGSoM

Sobita Tamuli 35 years old born in a small village in Assam called Telena started her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 18  in her native village. Sobita had a great determination to start her entrepreneurial journey not just to fund herself but also to fund her family for sustenance.

Sobita had a lot of different ideas to start her entrepreneurial ideas which would eventually be evaporated after a certain time, unlike her life-changing idea of something which is traditionally called the “Japi making”  in which she along with a group of women from the village run a “seuji” making business which makes and sells organic manure.

Sobita is a prime example of the saying business is not everyone’s cup of tea you need a lot of patience, dedication, concentration, time, and energy which have been all balanced by Sobita in order to create this successful company.

She has also expanded her business by starting her Japi-making business. Japis are traditional hats of the Assam culture. The small group of manufacturers not only produces these japis, they are also famous for customizing the Japi.

Sobita is a daredevil when it comes to trying out new things and implementing new ideas. Currently, she is learning the art of making agarbatti’s. Sobita addresses the issues she faced during previous years and how difficult it was to convince people around her village to believe in her idea but once this idea started being implemented positively more and more village natives wanted to join the organization. She believes if India has more and more stubborn, determined, and iron-willed entrepreneurs who believe in their ideas when everyone around criticizes the idea, India will have a large number of startups.  If you have a huge deal of determination and courage to pursue your dreams no one can stop you from doing it the case of Sobita Tamuli is a clear example of it.

Trekking in VU

Shritika Dubey, Vijaybhoomi School of Law

As we all know very few universities provide any adventurous activities to students. Vijaybhoomi creates a vast attraction with the help of these activities, nowadays students are more affectionate towards challenges and trekking could be a good idea apart from studies as studies already consists of so many different competitions and challenges. Students here actually enjoy trekking more than any activity and the nature here also contributes its sweetness towards the students. The weather makes it more fun for trekking, and this makes it a unique activity and participation with fun and a good exposure towards our beautiful earth. We are guided by our sports teacher who makes it easier and funnier to trek. There is a full responsibility towards students by the University. Generally we enjoy trekking every month and the whole year and we get to be involved with all the weather.
