Following Your Passion in Concentric Circles

“Surround yourself with individuals who share your passion and who can motivate you to do better.”

Finding your passion in life can be a challenging task. It requires a lot of self-exploration and experimentation to figure out what you truly love doing. However, once you have identified your passion, it becomes a driving force that can lead you to success and happiness.

Piran Irani, Assistant Dean at TSM, Vijaybhoomi University

One way to identify your passion is to look for the intersection of what you are good at and what you love doing. This sweet spot can be referred to as your "Zen state" When you are in your Zen state, you are not only doing what you love, but you are also excelling at it. This combination of passion and proficiency can lead to a fulfilling and rewarding career.

Once you have identified your passion, it's important to become a "nerd" about it. This means diving deep into your field of interest and learning everything you can about it. This can involve reading books, attending conferences, taking courses, and seeking mentorship from industry experts. The more you know about your passion, the more confident you will feel about pursuing it. Networking is also crucial when it comes to following your passion. Identify other "nerds" in your industry and connect with them. This can be done through professional associations, social media, or attending industry events. Building a network of like-minded individuals can provide you with valuable support, advice, and opportunities.

As human beings, we are the products of all the things we learn, and mistakes and failures can be our best teachers.

When it comes to pursuing your passion, it's important to work with people and ideologies that inspire you. Surround yourself with individuals who share your passion and who can motivate you to do better. This can include mentors, colleagues, and even clients or customers who appreciate the value of your work.

However, it's important to remember that pursuing your passion is not always easy. There will be challenges and setbacks along the way. It's important to follow your instincts and take calculated risks, but also be prepared to make mistakes and learn from them. As human beings, we are the products of all the things we learn, and mistakes and failures can be our best teachers.

In conclusion, following your passion in concentric circles can help you identify what you truly love doing and excel at it. It requires a combination of self-exploration, learning, networking, and perseverance. But by following your instincts, surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals, and embracing the journey, you can turn your passion into a fulfilling and rewarding career.

How do I manage my time effectively in college?

Saarang Arora, B.Tech - AI, INSOFE

Time management is an essential skill to master in college since you'll have many different tasks and responsibilities to juggle, including attending lectures, studying, completing assignments, participating in extracurricular activities, and other various tasks. Poor time management can lead to stress, missed deadlines, and poor academic performance.

To manage your time effectively, it's helpful to use a planner or calendar to map out your schedule and deadlines. This way, you can see what tasks you have to complete and when they are due. This will help you prioritise your most important tasks and allocate time accordingly. You may find it helpful to colour-code your tasks or use different symbols to differentiate between different types of tasks or assignments.

Of Course, prioritising your most important tasks and breaking down larger projects into smaller, more manageable pieces is a great way to keep the task engaging as well as easier to do in the long run. It's also important to build in time for self-care and relaxation, as burnout can be a real problem.
